Privacy

We take the issue of privacy very seriously. On this page, you will find our policies regarding the collection and use of personal data required for running the Challenges, and the security measures we have in place to protect that data. If you have any questions whatsoever regarding this information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Who are we?

The Student Investor Challenge 2007/8 is run by the ifs School of Finance. The online portion of the challenges was developed by and is maintained by Communis Limited ('Communis') and their agents.

What data do we collect?

Our registration forms require users to give us contact information (such as name, email, and postal address) and unique identifiers (such as your school's Unique Login Number, team login name and password).

What do you use the data for?

The data we collect is used to enable you to log in and take part in the challenges online, and to send you information required to take part in the challenges (such as information on the regional-finals stage of the Portfolio Challenge). Optionally, you can also sign up to receive a fortnightly news update, which contains news and information pertaining to the challenges. From time to time, we may contact you with other information regarding the activities of the ifs School of Finance. You will not receive marketing material from any third parties.

Data Protection

All data we collect is maintained under the provisions of the Data Protection Act (1998). Data is collected by Communis Limited on behalf of the ifs School of Finance and is maintained by Communis. The data will be shared between the ifs School of Finance, Communis and their respective Agents solely for the running of the challenges and will not be passed on to any other third parties. We may contact you from time to time to verify and update the data we hold on your records (e.g. school contact details).

Security

We take the security issue very seriously. All personal data that you transmit to us via this website is encrypted using the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption standard.

Can I see what data you hold for me?

Most of the data we hold for you can be securely accessed via the team edit page (you will have to enter your team name and password). You also have the right to access all the data we hold against your records. We will supply this within 40 days of the request being received by us, at a nominal charge of £10 per access request. If you would like to request to see this data, please contact us.
